Born in 1992, mezzo-soprano Eleonora Filipponi, after years of experience as a choir singer and pianist, approached the study of singing first with Roberto Quintarelli and then with Nadiya Petrenko. In October 2016, she passed the admission exam to the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicale “C. Monteverdi” in Cremona for the two-year degree in lyrical singing under the guidance of M. Mario Luperi.
In April 2017, she was Charlotte in Werther, conducted by M. F. Tallachini and directed by G. Formenti for the Cremasco Lyrical Festival, while in May she performed in a concert at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona with soprano Fiorenza Cedolins. In July 2017, she was The Mother in Hansel and Gretel by E. Humperdinck, conducted by M. M. Scapin and directed by A. Pizzech for the Tones on the Stones Festival. In November 2017, she debuted as Suzuki and was a finalist in the IX Competition – Omaggio a Titta Ruffo in Pisa. In December 2017, she won the second prize at the I Concorso Voce d’Angelo in Parma.
In January 2018, she was Carmen in the AsLiCo – OperaDomani Carmen – La stella del Circo Siviglia production, directed by A. Bernard and conducted by M. A. Steri, performing in some of the most important Italian theaters, including the Teatro Sociale in Como, the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, the Teatro Grande in Brescia, the Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan, and the Teatro Sociale in Bergamo. In August 2018, she won the award for Young Talent and the role of Flora at the Montecatini International Opera Festival competition. In September 2018, she participated in the Opera On Ice television show with the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, while in November she was Mme. Rivers in a recording of Adelson e Salvini at the Accademia S. Cecilia, conducted by M. Ciampi. In the same month, she was admitted to the Laboratorio sulla Vocalità Donizettiana and was Enrico in an abridged version of Enrico di Borgogna for the Donizetti Festival, conducted by M. A. Zanardi and directed by F. Micheli.
In 2019, she was Maddalena (Rigoletto), Dorabella (Così Fan Tutte), Isabella (Italiana in Algeri), Carmen, Flora (Traviata), Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) and Zita (Gianni Schicchi) for the Vienna Summer Music Festival and participated in the Prague Opernfest. In September 2019, she was awarded a scholarship by Raina Kabaivanska at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Sofia and in October she won the role of Suzuki and the III prize ex-aequo at the VII International Competition “Premio F. Ricci“. In December, she was admitted to the Accademia del Teatro Comunale in Bologna for the 2020-2021 academic year, where she trained with Luciana D’Intino.
In October 2020, she performed at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena in the Concert for Luciano Pavarotti, conducted by M. R. Molinelli, and in the same theater she made her debut as the Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas, directed by S. Monti and conducted by M. M. Sollazzo.
In February 2021, she won the 2nd prize at the VI International Competition “Vano Visioli“. In July 2021, she made her debut in the role of Clarina in La Cambiale di Matrimonio (G. Rossini) at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, directed by L. Baracchini and conducted by M. A. Khacheh, and was engaged in a recital at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, conducted by M. Salvatore Percacciolo, while in August she was Ernestina in L’Occasione fa il ladro (G. Rossini) at the Teatro dei Rozzi (Siena) for the Accademia Chigiana, conducted by M. N. Suppa and directed by L. Mariani. Between July and October 2021, she made her debut in the role of Lindora in the opera Moro per Amore by A. Stradella, a project of the Stradella Young Project in collaboration with the Ensemble Mare Nostrum, with musical direction by A. De Carlo and directed by F. Pietrosanti. In November 2021, she was Romeo in Capuleti e Montecchi for the Circolo delle Muse in Crema, directed by G. Formenti and conducted by M. F. Tallachini. In the 2021 – 2022 season, she joined the ensemble of the Theater Ulm and performed as Varvara (Kata Kabanova), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Marcellina (Nozze di Figaro) and Maddalena (Rigoletto).
In January 2022, she received the II° prize at the “5th International Musical Competition City of Alessandria” (online edition). In June 2022, she was Dryade at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino in Ariadne auf Naxos, directed by M. Hartmann and conducted by M. Daniele Gatti, made her debut as Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice by C. W. Glück) for the Opera Festival at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, and as Tisbe in Cenerentola by G. Rossini for the TICINO MUSICA “Silvio Varviso” International Opera Studio 2022, conducted by M. U. Finazzi. In August 2022, she recorded the opera Moro per Amore by A. Stradella with the Ensemble Mare Nostrum, conducted by M. Andrea De Carlo, for the Arcana label. She was a semi-finalist at the 5th International Competition “Eva Marton” in Budapest, and between September and October 2022 she performed the Wesendonck-Lieder at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti – Freni in Modena, under the direction of M. Fabio Sperandio, and in the same theater she was Marta and cover of Pantalis in Mefistofele by A. Boito, directed by E. Stinchelli and conducted by M. F. Pasqualetti. In October 2022, she made her debut in the role of solo contralto in Mahler‘s 3rd Symphony, conducted by M. Zubin Mehta at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, while in November 2022 she was the Third Noble Page in Lohengrin at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, directed by L. De Angelis and conducted by M. A. Fisch, and also in November she performed in a concert at the Teatro Asioli in Correggio with the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation for the awarding of the Pavarotti D’Oro to Fabio Sartori. In December 2022, she was the solo contralto in Beethoven‘s 9th Symphony at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, conducted by M. Daniele Gatti.
In January 2023, she performed a solo Baroque recital in Stockholm for the Italian Cultural Institute titled “Amor, s’il tuo ferire“, while in February 2023 she was The Fox in the contemporary opera The Little Prince by P. Valtinoni for the Società Operaia di Pordenone. In March 2023, she was the soloist in Stravinsky‘s Pulcinella at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, conducted by M. Daniele Gatti, and she was Deborah/Delfina/VoiceOff in the contemporary opera C’era due volte il barone Lamberto by A. Cara at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, conducted by M. Alibrando and directed by G. Aliverta. Between May and June 2023, she will be Emilia in Verdi‘s Otello at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino, conducted by M. Zubin Mehta, which will be reprised in August in Bucharest for the George Enescu Festival, while in June she will make her debut in the role of Carlo in the opera La zia di Carlo (La Viejecita) by Manuel Fernandez Caballero at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, conducted by M. M. Castelli and directed by I. Sainato. Also in June, she will make her debut in the role of Sister Zealatrice in Suor Angelica by G. Puccini at the Teatro Antico in Taormina, conducted by M. Beatrice Venezi, and later at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, conducted by M. Stefano Cencetti, while in August 2023 she will record the unpublished oratorio of Alessandro Melani Santa Rosa da Viterbo together with the Ensemble MareNostrum, conducted by M. Andrea De Carlo. In December 2023, she will be engaged as the Second Lady in Mozart‘s Zauberflöte at the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste, conducted by M. Beatrice Venezi.
In January 2024, she will make her debut in the role of Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, directed by M. Renato Bonajuto and conducted by M. José Miguel Pérez Sierra, and also at the Teatro Coccia in March 2024 she will debut the contemporary opera Il Brutto Anatroccolo by S. Passantino, directed by D. Garattini and conducted by M. Aram Khacheh. In February 2024, she was admitted to the Accademia del Belcanto Rodolfo Celletti. In June 2024, she will be the solo contralto in Beethoven‘s 9th Symphony at the Accademia S. Cecilia, conducted by M. Daniele Gatti, while between July and August she will make her debut in the role of Mother in the opera Aladdin and the Magic Lamp by Nino Rota for the Festival della Valle D’Itria, conducted by M. Francesco Lanzillotta and directed by R. Cosentino, and in the same month she will be engaged as the solo contralto in the 9th Symphony at the Teatro Lirico G. Verdi in Trieste, conducted by M. A. D’Agostini, and at the Festival della Valle d’Itria, conducted by M. R. Frizza. In September 2024, she will perform the 9th Symphony again in Bologna, Ferrara and Milan with the Società del Quartetto Italiano and the direction of M. Sir J. E. Gardiner, and in October 2024 she will be Siegrüne in Walküre at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, conducted by M. O. Lyniv. Winner of the role of Third Lady at the 51st Toti dal Monte Competition, between November 2024 and December 2025 her debut in the role is scheduled at the theaters of Treviso, Padua and Rovigo, directed by P. G. Cei and conducted by M. G. Carella, while between January and March 2025 she will be Wowkle in Fanciulla del West at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Maddalena in Rigoletto at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, directed by D. Livermore and conducted by M. S. Ranzani, and Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti – Freni in Modena and at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, conducted by M. A. Sisillo and directed by P. Kartalov. In July 2025, she will be Paquette in Candide at the Teatro Comunale Nouveau, directed by R. Zanella and conducted by M. K. Rhodes, and in October 2025 she will be the Second Norn in Götterdämmerung at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, conducted by M. O. Lyniv.
Currently a student at the Accademia Lirica di Osimo, chaired by M. V. De Vivo, Eleonora Filipponi has a master‘s degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan (2016), a degree in Lyrical Singing from the ISSM “Claudio Monteverdi” in Cremona (2018) and a master‘s in Teaching and Psychopedagogy for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (University of Florence, 2017). She is also engaged in an intense chamber music activity together with M. Marco Brunelli (piano), with whom she mainly dedicates herself to the German Lieder repertoire.
